A mushroom farm to be built on the Gold Coast is set to create 150 jobs.

Gold Coast City Council approved a proposal by Marland Mushrooms to build a 4.1 hectare mushroom farm in Quinns Hill Road, Stapylton.

The City Planning Chair, Councillor Cameron Caldwell, said the facility will be in the Future Industry Precinct of the Yatala Enterprise Local Area PLan.

"This is a very welcome application that is ideally suited to this area," Cr Caldwell said.

"This farm is certainly a positive investment for the area that will offer long-term employment opportunities to the local community."

He said construction is expected to commence immediately following approval and will take about 12 months.
