About us
The Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer based organisation that ensures the safety of Victorian communities by responding to emergencies and disasters across the state.
VICSES is the lead agency for responding to floods, storms, earthquakes and tsunamis, and also provides road crash rescue response in outer metropolitan and country areas of Victoria.
There are more than 5000 dedicated and committed VICSES volunteers across the state who provide these services 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure the safety of Victorian communities.
CampaignsVICSES has developed four community education programs aimed at improving awareness of natural hazards in the community. For information on how you can better prepare your household or business for emergency situations, click on the links below:
How you can helpThere are many different types of volunteer roles at VICSES, and volunteers come from all walks of life with diverse backgrounds, skills and interests.
The one common trait among all VICSES volunteers is a desire to give something back to their local community. As well as saving the lives and property of many Victorians, VICSES volunteer members find there are many personal benefits to volunteering. There is the opportunity to hold leadership positions, earn accreditations that can be used beyond VICSES, become a respected figure in the community and form strong friendships.
