About us

The Western Region Academy of Sport (WRAS) in a not profit community organisation operating in the Western Region of NSW.

It provides support to the region's talented sportspeople and attempts to eliminate the disadvantages that regional sportspeople face, in comparison to their city counterparts.

The WRAS covers nineteen local government areas extending from Lithgow in the east, North to Mudgee and Gilgandra, west to Narromine and Lake Cargelligo and south to West Wyalong and Young.

What we do

WRAS conducts training camps and skills sessions for pre-elite athletes in Squad and Individual programs.Coaches are also developed through education and professional development and a bi-annual coaching conference.

Scholarship athletes receive skills training, sports science education and support, and a strength and conditioning program. They also receive physical testing, visual screening and personal development sessions.

We also run sports camps for varying levels of athletes, along with Rookie Camps, Regional Athlete and Coach Education lectures throughout the region and Sportplay for Primary School students.
