Police want witnesses to a hit and run in Wanniassa to come forward.

A 65-year-old Wanniassa man was riding his bicycle through the Wheeler Crescent and Fincham Crescent roundabout at about 7.45am on Wednesday when he was hit by a vehicle travelling east through the roundabout.

Police say he was thrown from his bike and the offending vehicle fled the scene along Wheeler Crescent.

The victim was taken to The Canberra Hospital with serious skin abrasions.

The offending vehicle has been described as an older model blue or green coloured sedan.

Police urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have any information regarding the vehicle involved to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
