A trial of water ski training on Lake Ginninderra will begin next week.
ACT Chief Minister Katy Gallagher said a new water ski training location was needed because the normal training area on the Molonglo River was closed for safety reasons in 2010.
She said the conditions of the trial have been changed in response to feedback from a six-week consultation period.
The modifications address concerns about noise, lake users' needs and the impact on the enviroment.
Changes include excluding weekends and public holidays from the trial, amending trial times during winter and moving the slalom training course away from the shore line.
Wakeboarding will be allowed during the trial but there will be no jumping.
Ms Gallagher said the trial will determine if Lake Ginninderra is a suitable location for the ACT Water Ski Association to undertake tournament training.
“Lake users will be surveyed during the trial to allow people to provide further feedback on the suitability of this activity on Lake Ginninderra,” she said. The trial will run from Monday 9 July 2012 until Thursday 31 January 2013.
